Status:
Failed
Type:
Bill
Date:
January, 2017

Paint Stewardship legislation, House Bill 1376 concerning paint stewardship, was introduced in January 2017 for the 2017-2018 session at the initiative of the paint industry American Coatings Association (ACA), with the support of local governments, businesses, and environmental organizations, similar to failed paint bills introduced in the 2013-14 and 2015-16 sessions. The legislation would have created a collection program for the recycling or proper disposal of unwanted architectural paint in Washington state, similar to industry-operated paint stewardship programs in other states.

2018 Legislative Activity

HB 1376 carried over into the 2018 legislative session, which began Jan. 8, 2018. However, without support from the American Coatings Association and PaintCare, the bill had no activity and was dead by the end of session on March 8.
