The Washington Small Rechargeable Battery Stewardship Act, House Bill 1364 and Senate Bill 5457, introduced in 2013 at the initiative of the rechargeable battery industry, Call2Recycle, would have required rechargeable battery brand owners (manufacturers) to fund and manage a statewide rechargeable battery recycling program for residents and businesses, but did not pass.

  • HB 1364 passed the House on March 6 as Enrolled Substitute HB 1364 and was heard in Senate Environment on March 20, in the House Environment Committee Feb. 7 and Feb. 19, and in the House Appropriations Subcommittee on General Government Feb. 23.
  • SB 5457 was heard Feb. 13 and Feb. 21 in the Senate Environment Committee.
